Program Description
Acute coronary syndromes (ACS), comprising UA/NSTEMI and STEMI, are a major cause of emergency medical care and hospitalization in the US. Strategies for the optimal diagnosis and management of ACS evolve at a rapid pace, as new evidence emerges from clinical trial results and registry data, and as clinical guidelines are updated to reflect that evidence. In order to provide optimal patient care to ACS patients, physicians and health care staff must not only be aware of emerging issues and treatment options, but they must also be able to properly interpret and use a team approach to apply the information to clinical practice. Emergency department care is central to this, and needs to be optimized to ensure the highest level of patient care. This case-based, webinar will provide evidence-based clinical information to help emergency department teams offer optimal, guideline-based ACS care to patients. The session will focus on a systems-based, team-oriented approach, with discussions of real-world patient cases providing insight into the practical implementation of strategies. Areas of focus will include improving time to treatment; issues in the choice, dosing, and timing of therapies; and strategies for improving the coordination of multidisciplinary care.
